View Full Version : Pocketmail
My friends Ken & Marcia Powers recently told me that they were no longer using Pocketmail. I know this wasn't a decision made lightly, because they had carried one for more than 10,000 miles of trail.
I'm not "up" on the best technology for journaling on the trail.
Is Pocketmail dead?
Voice recording was discussed in another thread.
For those who prefer typing, what is the most popular / best device for journaling on the trail?

I sold my PocketMail and good riddance! It weighed 1/2 a pound, customer service took forever, uploading messages worked about 75% of the time on the first try, and so on.
It is a relic of a design and they haven't changed the design that's much needed. I don't think they will be around much longer.
I would rather just wait and type into Trailjournals.com. I can upload and enter text at the same time. I don't think PM does that as far as photos.

I can not speak for the pocket mail device but now days you can get cell phones with a full keyboard on them. Then you can just type to you cell phone and send it to your transcriber via email. It seems to me that would be a lot easier.
I am the one that is going to play around with trying a voice recorder before I hike. I don't think that will pan out though.
I would be interested in hear what most people are doing these days though,
